The PHILODO H7 and PHILODO H8 may not look all that different. However, they are. While they are both tremendous e-bikes (all PHILODO bikes are fantastic), they have slightly different specs. While the H7 may be right for one person, the H8 may be a slightly better option for another.
On this page, we’re going to compare the PHILODO H7 v the PHILODO H8 across the most important metrics. Hopefully, this should help you to decide which e-bike may be the best option for you.
Specification
We’ll start by giving you a quick overview of the specs of the two bikes. This way, you can get more of an idea about what each one brings to the table. Don’t worry – we’re going to do a much more in-depth comparison shortly.
As you go through these specifications, you’ll notice that the specs, for the most part, are similar. However, there are a few key differences, and these are in some of the most important areas for when you are buying an e-bike.

We like to think of the H8 as an upgrade on the H7. It is an e-bike that is going to do almost everything that the H7 does, just a little bit extra. There isn’t a huge amount of difference between the two e-bikes but, as you will discover, the H8 does perform better across the board.
Ride Quality
We don’t think we’ve ever ridden a PHILODO e-bike that we didn’t like. The same goes for both the H7 and the H8.
Both offer absolutely sublime smoothness on roads and off-road surfaces. So, they are both multi-purpose bikes. However, we reckon that the vast majority of people who buy these bikes will probably be using them for commuting. They are OK as off-road bikes, but since neither has full suspension, there are better options available for serious off-roading.
The H8 does have a slightly more powerful motor. Well, actually, it has two motors. You get 2 x 1,000W motors on the H8, with just one of them on the H7. This means that you do have a bit more power to zip the bike along the road. Because of this, the H8 can traverse steeper hills with ease, and it may perform slightly better with the more strenuous off-roading.
Now, don’t get us wrong – the PHILODO H7 is still a fantastic e-bike. It is going to work well on small hills, some light off-roading, and as a commuter bike. However, if you’re really looking to push your e-bike through its paces, then the H8 may be a slightly better choice.
Other than the rather major difference in power, the H7 and the H8 both perform admirably. They both have a quality suspension system (both have an adjustable and lockable front fork suspension), and they both have the same tires. As we said, all PHILODO bikes are tremendous. You’d be happy with either of them, we reckon. Well, unless you do need that difference in power.
Speed & Power
Because of the extra motor, the H8 is able to travel a small amount faster than the H7. It is 35mph to 31mph. Although, in the US this isn’t going to make a major difference since you aren’t allowed to travel that fast on an e-bike anyway. So, you’re going to be traveling at the same speed on both of them. Just the extra speed boost on the H8 means that it can recover power a little bit better when you slow down, which can make it more ideal for those rides with a lot of stopping and starting or your off-road adventures.
You will 100% notice the difference in power when you are going uphill. In our experience, the H8 can tackle steeper hills than the H7 before there is a noticeable drop in power. However, we must point out that the hills would need to be quite steep for that to happen. But, if you do live in a slightly hillier area, then it may be worth checking out the H8 instead. It’ll make your life a whole lot easier.
Both of these e-bikes have 5 pedal assist settings (and a 0-level pedal assist), and they function in much the same way. If you’re just going to be pedaling with pedal assist, then you’ll get the same assistance no matter which bike you opt for.
Battery & Range
The H8 has a considerably better battery than the H7. While they both have 48V batteries, the capacity on the PHILODO H8 is higher, this means that the overall range of the H8 is higher, despite the battery needing to keep two motors powered.
Battery ranges can be a little bit off (since companies base their ranges on ideal conditions), but even bearing that in mind, there is a considerable difference between the H7 and H8. The H8 can get at least 10 miles extra on the H7, which is nothing to turn your nose up at.
Neither e-bike is going to have the greatest range in the world, but if range is important, then the H8 is a great option. It will keep on cycling for longer without needing to charge it. The only downside is that the battery is a little bit higher in capacity, which does mean that it is going to take a little bit extra charge.
It is worth noting that both the H7 and the H8 do have quality lithium-ion batteries in them. This means that you are going to be getting a quality battery that is lightweight and easy to charge.
Comfort & Ergonomics
There is no major difference between the two e-bikes here. The H7 does have a thumb throttle while the H8 has a twist throttle, but both are decent. We do find the twist throttle a little bit easier to use, but it isn’t the end of the world to use a thumb throttle, to be honest.

PHILODO H7 or H8? – Which One Is Right For You
Both the PHILODO H7 and H8 are tremendous e-bikes. Anybody would be happy with either one of them. However, the H8 is an upgrade on the H7. It has the same features as the H7, just a little bit ‘extra’. It has more power. It has more speed. It is better at tackling hills. If you have the extra cash, then we believe anybody would enjoy riding the H8 a little bit more. If you don’t, that’s fine. All the bikes in the PHILODO range are great, and you would be happy with the H7 too.
