Most electric bikes are marketed to commuters. They are designed for those who want an easy bike to get to and from work. Makes sense, really. E-bikes are fun to ride, but they’re often favored by those who don’t want to put a huge amount of effort into their cycling. The Hiboy P6 Electric Bike is different. This is an off-road bike. It is designed for those that want to have cycling adventures on trails filled with bumps, humps, and rough terrain. But is it really that good?
This Hiboy P6 Electric Bike review will tell you everything you need to know about the Hiboy P6. We’ll tackle the specs, the features, and more. Hopefully, by the end of this review, you’ll have a good idea whether the Hiboy P6 is worth looking into for you, or whether looking elsewhere is a better option.

Hiboy P6 Electric Bike Overview
This is the section where you’ll get to know the Hiboy P6 properly. Our goal is to walk you through what the bike brings to the table. We’ll focus on the areas people care most about when it comes to electric bikes – how the bike performs, the battery, the maximum speed, and the areas in which the bike thrives.
Hiboy P6 Electric Bike Performance
At the start, we did say that the Hiboy P6 has been designed for off-roading, although this isn’t strictly true. While Hiboy does market the P6 as an off-roading bike, their literature often refers to it as a great bike for all terrains. It could be, we guess. However, as soon as you climb onto the e-bike, you can’t help but feel that it was designed purely to be an off-roading bike, albeit one where the rider can dabble in some on-road action if desired.
At the heart of the Hiboy P6, you have a 750W Bafang motor. We’ll talk in-depth about that shortly. For now, all you need to know is that there is a good amount of power. It may not be the most powerful motor in the world, but it is one that should have no issues tackling bumps and hills when you’re cycling off-road. It is even enough to get up hills with a 20% gradient, which is wonderful. It means that there’s barely a hill that you can’t tackle. If you are going up a hill with over a 20% gradient, you’d probably want to pedal anyway. We can’t think of a single e-bike on the market that can tackle something that steep.

The Hiboy P6 is equipped with some amazing 26” fat tires. Some of the best we’ve seen on a cheaper e-bike. These thick tires can deal with most terrain with ease. They can glide over snow and thick mud just as well as they would a paved surface. We’ve no issues with them. They’re tough, and you won’t be puncturing them any time soon, even if you did push the e-bike to its limits.
There are some areas where the e-bike shows evidence of cost-cutting. For example, while this is an off-road e-bike, you only have a front suspension. However, this is fine. We were originally a bit skeptical that the front suspension on the P6 would be enough to smooth out the bumps of some of the toughest trails we tackle, but it did well. Sure, it’s not as smooth as an e-bike with rear suspension too, but some people like to feel the bumps of the trails! The suspension does include your typical quality suspension features e.g. 80mm of travel and a lockout option.
The maximum weight capacity is also somewhat on the lower side. It allows up to 265 lbs, which may seem like a lot, but most other e-bikes are in excess of 300 lbs. For most people, this probably won’t matter too much. However, if you’re on the heavier side of things, you’ll notice that the e-bike doesn’t perform as well as other e-bikes would. It also means you may not be able to carry too much baggage with you.
The P6 does have all the features needed for a commute to work, but it isn’t the most comfortable e-bike to ride. The seat (for us) sits a bit low, so you’ll often be sitting in an uncomfortable position. It is fine to be in that position when off-roading as you’ll be moving about on top of the bike a lot, but when you’re commuting, you’ll probably want the smoothest ride to work, and the P6 just doesn’t offer that level of comfort. Still, if you’re buying this e-bike for off-roading, there is no reason why you can’t use the P6 for commuting. We just wouldn’t recommend it as a commuter-only e-bike.
All in all, the Hiboy P6 performs well. It is perfect for tackling most off-road trails, and it can cover most terrain with ease. It doesn’t matter whether you are faced with steep hills, slick snow, or heavy mud, the Hiboy P6 will get you through it. While it has been primarily designed as an off-road e-bike, it may also be good for commuters. Although, it isn’t necessarily the best e-bike for commuters.
Hiboy P6 Electric Bike Power & Control
There is a 750W motor on this e-bike, and it performs well. As we said, it isn’t the most powerful, but it is suitable for most people who cycle off-road. This is because most people who cycle off-road don’t necessarily go full-electric, they just want some pedal assistance to help them to tackle the tougher hills. You really don’t need more than 750W.
Talking of pedal assistance, you have three different control modes on the e-bike. You have standard pedal mode, so your e-bike rides just like a traditional bike. It is ideal for when the battery has dwindled. You also have full-electric (no pedaling required at all), or pedal assist, where your pedaling is given a bit of a boost. It saves some effort. The e-bike basically caters to all riding styles.
The maximum speed you can hit on the e-bike is 28mph, although most people cycling off-road will cap out at 22-25mph. It is still decently fast. However, do bear in mind that if you are tackling more challenging hills, the motor may grunt a little, and you’ll struggle to go over 5-10mph.
We also want to point out the brakes here too. The brakes are tremendous, even when you are cycling at maximum speed (which will be rare, to be fair), the brakes will slow you down quickly and safely. This makes them perfect for off-roading when you need a high level of braking control at your fingertips.

Hiboy P6 Electric Bike Battery & Range
This is an area where Hiboy has clearly cut costs.
The battery is a 48V battery, which does look good. It is in line with other e-bikes. The problem is that the capacity is only 13Ah, which is very low. It means that you’ll rarely get a full day of use out of the e-bike before it needs to be charged. Thankfully, the battery is removable, so you can always carry a couple of spares with you. Trust us, you’ll probably need a few spares. The batteries take a whopping 7 hours to charge!
The range of the e-bike is on the shorter side of things. Hiboy quotes 25-30 miles on pure electric, but if you’re doing a lot of off-roading, you’ll probably get closer to 15-20. You may stretch that to 25 if you’re cycling on-road (i.e. during your morning commute), but it is still not a lot.
Most people are probably not going to buy this bike and switch to pure electric mode. There’s no fun in that when they’re cycling off-road. The maximum quoted range is 62 miles with power assist, but this is on the lowest power assist level. You’ll probably get closer to 40-50 miles, depending on how hard you can pedal yourself. This is much more respectable for an e-bike.
As we said – this is not the longest-range e-bike in the world, but that is all down to the lower battery capacity. It is an area where Hiboy tried to save money when developing the P6. It’ll probably be an issue for longer-distance cyclists (i.e. those who want to be on the trail all day), but for most people, the range is fine.

Hiboy P6 Comfort and Usability
The Hiboy P6 is comfortable to ride, albeit not for longer distances. The padded seat should absorb some of the shocks of the road, and the suspension system does a great job, even if you only have a front fork suspension.
We do feel that some people may have a few issues with the seat sitting much lower than it would on some other e-bikes, but this is normal for off-roading. So, if you go in expecting an off-road e-bike, then you know that you’re going to be seated in a different way to when you are seated on a commuter e-bike.
There is a cycle computer on the Hiboy P6 that will give you some basic information, making the e-bike a bit easier to use e.g. battery level, speed, pedal assist settings, etc. However, we cannot stress enough that it is a very basic screen. If you want full information about your ride, you’ll need to pick up a decent app and stick your phone on the e-bike instead. Although, that’s the case with most e-bikes.
All in all, the Hiboy P6 is a comfortable ride. Not the most comfortable, because it is a budget e-bike. But, for most people riding off-road, it’s fine.

Is the Hiboy P6 Electric Bike for You?
If you’re looking for a quality off-road e-bike that won’t blow a hole in your bank account, then the Hiboy P6 is perfect. It can handle off-roading, even tough trails, with ease.
It has a surprisingly decent range considering the lower capacity of the battery too. If you’re looking for a commuter e-bike, then maybe look elsewhere.
While it does work as a commuter e-bike, it doesn’t have a huge range, and it often isn’t the most comfortable e-bike to ride if you want a leisurely cycle.
Sure, it’ll do well, but there are better-dedicated commuter e-bikes out there.
