Reading the specs is all well and good, but for a proper Shengmilo S600 review, weโll need to tell you exactly what this e-bike brings to the table.
Performance
Like most modern e-bikes, the Shengmilo S600 has been designed to be a commuter bike. While you can use it on some of the longer rides, or even off-road, youโll probably feel much more comfortable when you are riding to and from work, mostly on paved surfaces.
The Shengmilo S600 has a top speed of 15mph, which is a little bit lower than most e-bikes, but thatโs fine. Weโve rarely ever gone over 15mph on some of the higher-powered e-bikes anyway. It is tough to do on the morning commute. 15mph is still considerably faster than a walking pace.
Because the Shengmilo S600 is loaded up with 2 x 1000W motors, it rides like a dream. It smoothly glides over bumps in the road, and can even tackle some rather steep hills without you needing to switch into pedal assist mode (i.e. you can go up hills with full throttle), which makes riding into work even easier.
As we said โ you can take this off-road too. While that was not necessarily the design goal for the team behind the S600, the combination of the fat tires, huge motor, and decent suspension make it easy for you to tackle a few medium-difficulty off-road trails.
You can have as much control over this e-bike as you like too. You can easily switch between full-throttle and pedal assist mode. So, if you feel like a smoother, effortless ride, then switch to full throttle so the bike does the hard work for you. If you want a bit of exercise, then you have 5 different pedal assist options.
Finally โ the brakes are great. They are responsive, even when you are traveling at fast speeds on your S600, which is just what you want. You need to slow down quickly. When we tested this e-bike out, we cycled as fast as we could, and the brakes still managed to bring us to a halt, safely, within just a few seconds.
All in all, the cycling experience on the Shengmilo S600 is tremendous. It is smooth. It tackles most surfaces with ease and, as a commuter bike, it is one of the best in its price range.
Battery and Range
The Shengmilo S600 makes use of Samsung battery cells, which are built to last. The battery tech is Lithium-Ion, so we wouldnโt be surprised if you got 5 years of use out of these batteries, even with regular use of the e-bike.
The range on the e-bike is up to 55 miles in pedal assist, and up to 30 in full throttle. Although, you may get slightly less than this if you are on the heavier side of things, or you are putting the e-bike through its paces.
While the maximum range on the e-bike is decent enough for the morning commute, youโll find that the range is considerably lower than some other e-bikes on the market. Unfortunately, this canโt be helped. Because the Shengmilo S600 has more power than other e-bikes (thanks to the dual motors), it takes a lot more power to run, and this drains the battery quickly. Youโve sacrificed range for power here. Still, we think the maximum range is still good enough for more people, especially when in pedal assist.
Comfort
This is an e-bike designed for those who want to be comfortable. It has a plush leather saddle which is firm enough to support you, but soft enough for you to enjoy riding on the e-bike.
The suspension system should level out most small bumps in the road (ideal if you live in an area full of potholes), again adding to comfort.
The e-bike frame has been designed in such a way that youโll be in a comfortable seating position for a commute. It is not the ideal position if speed and endurance are more your thing, but if you want a comfortable ride, it is perfect.
Extra Features
The Shengmilo S600 is loaded up with two cool features. The first is an LED light at the front of the e-bike, which should be self-explanatory. The second is a color screen thatโll tell you whatโs happening with your e-bike.
The screen is incredibly easy to read, and will show you information like:
- Total mileage
- Battery level
- Speed
- Speed setting levels
It is also from the screen that you make your adjustments to the pedal assist levels and can turn the front light on your e-bike on and off. However, this is somewhat inconvenient since most other e-bikes put these settings on the handlebars, so it can take a little getting used to.
Considering the low price of the S600, we were surprised at how good the e-bike screen was. Most have rather basic screens at this price point, and they are ridiculously difficult to read when you are cycling in bright sunlight, but not this one. It looked amazing. The only downside is that there is no way to connect it to a phone app or something, which most other modern e-bikes have.

Yes! If youโre looking for a great commuter bike, and your commute to work isnโt too far, then the Shengmilo S600 is worth it. If youโre looking for an e-bike for off-roading or longer bike rides, then you may need to look elsewhere.
However, for most people, we reckon the Shengmilo S600 offers real bang for your buck. It is a new e-bike too, so expect it to be supported with spare parts for a long time to come.
